Aixola historically has been joined to family Arexola. It was one of the richest families of the Town and they created the quarter. During the struggles between the partisan ones they do act of presence the Arexola.
Also it has another quarter, called Arriola, which is very small, but it has a few very nice hamlets and many tidy reciéntemente.
The solar house of «Arexola« is, in the Aramaiona history, more important after that of the masters of the vale. It is always mentioned as of «major relatives», being the only one that takes this name, with that of "Garay", located in Guraya. There is not doubt of that it is necessary to consider it between the most ancient of the dominion.
Etymology: "the foundry of the oak». This porch, commonly is known by it by the name of Aixola, which looks like a derivative of «Aizeola«. The "aizeolas" were foundries that were using the wind as his principal one prime mover to melt the iron. There were usually located in proximities of the prime matters, vein of iron and coal vegetable. And they were making use of the difference of the area to obtain necessary "shot" to obtain the high necessary temperatures for the smelting. The "mendiolas" (foundries of mountain) were usually "aizeolas". According to Julio Caro Baroja, «the iron ore, with the coal, was placing inside a trunk of tree of big diameter, hollowed previously, covered with clay and other mineral substances». name of «Arexola« well might have something to do with this one custom...
